Isabel Menezes has a BA in Theatre (ESAP), a degree and a PhD in Psychology and an aggregation in Educational Sciences (FPCEUP). She is a Full Professor in the Department of Educational Sciences and is in charge of the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) at the University of Porto. She teaches in the areas of Research Methodologies, Methodologies of Educational, Social and Community Intervention, Education for Citizenship and Political Psychology. She has developed projects on civic and political participation of children, youth and adults, with special interest in groups at risk of exclusion, and the ways in which formal and non-formal education (including community art) can play an empowering role in the relationship with politics. She is currently president of the board of the Portuguese Society for Educational Sciences and coordinates the ClimActiC project that explores ways of local co-creation of actionable knowledge in the face of climate change.
