The opening conversation of MEXE between Cláudia Galhós and the audiovisual artist Neil Harbisson relates the risk with the human experience in a moment as sensitive as the one we live in. Faced with realities that are, for the time being, extraordinary and that are wrongly considered to be emergent and unviable, it is fundamental to question what we are and what we wish to be as humans. This moment will allow us to get to know the thoughts of the president of the Cyborg Foundation, which supports people to be recognized as cyborgs, defending their rights. In 2004, Neil became the first person to be recognized by a government as a cyborg. With an electronic eye, his access to color was expanded, overcoming his vision problem. Neil’s artistic creation is said to be one of the most controversial performances of all time, raising ethical and aesthetic issues that need to be reflected upon.
